What a pleasure to read a modern day, well written thriller that is devoid of sex, course language, and accompanying intellectual acquiescence under the cover of "reality." Having just completed a Patterson novel, I opted to read another Patterson story. As the pages turned I thought that Patterson had changed his writing style rather dramatically. That is when I noticed the writer to be Jack, not James, Patterson. If you want to read a thriller with just as many twists and turns as James' stories....but without the accompanying "stuff"...read a story written by Jack. The read is well worth the time. I am anxious to see how Jack Patterson further develops his characters and stories.Jack may have been around a long time, but he is new to me and, I would guess, many others. I am planning on reading more Patterson novels...both James and Jack!

I wanted to really like this book. It was rather predictable and a little far fetched. I appreciate the lack of sex and gratuitous violence. Not bad, not great.
It was such a great book. Never thought I'd read a book that dealt with football and news writers but it was such a great book. Kept me wanting to read.
Cal Murphy series is really interesting. I was initially looking for books by James Patterson and ran into this by accident. But, it was a nice accident
I first read the third book in the Cal Murphy series and enjoyed it so much I decided to go back and read the first two. Mr. Patterson's writing in the later book was much more developed than this earlier work. I enjoy his writing and will continue to be a fan but that might not have been the case if I had started with this book. Also, I was distracted in both cases by rudimentary proofreading errors that were not corrected in the publishing process.
I have found a new author in Jack Patterson. I find his stories interesting and a fast read. I always believe any book that "calls me in my sleep" is a good book. I actually read the third book first and am now going back and reading the first two. I have finished this one and am reading number 2.
If you read the the first few chapters and the last few chapters that is the story. There is so much repeatation in this book. I was really hoping this would be a new author I would love but I ended up scanning just get through it. Extremely predictable. I will not be continuing along on this series.
when I first bought this I was looking for "James Patterson"and thought it was his ,down loaded on my kindle and thought may as well read it,well I am so glad that I did,since then I have read all his Cal Murphy books and love them and waiting for his next one,don't miss out on this,won't be sorry.
